Volunteer Position: Office Helper
Overview: Light office and light cleaning duties. This position is great for a retired person that just wants to “do a little something” without a big time commitment and without a lot of new things to learn. It’s perfect for a stay-at-home parent while the children are in school. It’s perfect for high school or college students looking for something worthwhile to do while they’re not in class. In many work environments, office helpers are some of the most under-appreciated positions in the office. At WAY Radio, they’re one of the most important because the one who answers the phone or greets a guest is the first impression a listener will have of the station. If you’re a naturally positive and happy person, you’ll have the opportunity to use those character traits in a Christian environment at a ministry that is truly having an impact in the community.

Volunteer Position: Public Relations Representative
Overview: This job presents an opportunity for a volunteer(s) to get out in the community to talk about and give information/awareness about the work of WAY Radio. Direct contact with the local community helps spread the word on the work we do. Any “family” or “Christian” oriented events in our area presents us with a public relations opportunity. The public comes to talk to a "live" person and may see either a staff member or a station volunteer. This helps to make us visible in our communities and will help the station grow. If you like talking to the public and sharing your story of how WAY Radio meets needs in your life, this is a great opportunity for you to become involved and volunteer.

Volunteer Job Description: Handyman
Overview: Help WAY Radio by fixing those “little” problems with the buildings, grounds, and even equipment before they become “big” problems. There are only so many hours in the day, and often times the “little fix-it” jobs take a back seat to more pressing issues. The little jobs are still important, and if ignored, will continue to grow. This person can take on a “little” job every so often, and will eventually help rid WAY Radio of those pesky, little jobs.

Volunteer Job Description: Remote/Event Helpers
Overview: Station events and remote broadcasts are where we’re able to reach out into the community and meet face to face. A great event seems effortless, but it has to start with preparation and attention to detail, in some cases, months in advance. Events should also be fun for the public and for those representing the station. This is the job for you if you love WAY Radio, and enjoy having fun and meeting people. While events are fun, they might also be strategically ministry minded. Attention to this detail can make eternal differences in the lives of our listeners.

Volunteer Job Description: Board Operator
Overview: A radio station is only as good as its on-air product. In order for a radio station to grow, there is the constant need to train and develop future “talent”. We need individuals willing to assist WAY Radio with the on-air operations by learning the board and automation. These positions will not necessarily be an on-air speaking position, although that could develop in the future. We’re needing individuals capable of running the station while the “talent” is on location elsewhere, and individuals who would be able to step up and fill in for an emergency.

Volunteer Job Description: Friendraiser Phone Helper
Overview: WAY Radio is largely supported by listeners. Some of our donors have been giving to the station for a long time. We strive to communicate with them throughout the year, and meet the needs they have as a donor. There are thousands of more listeners who have never given to WAY Radio. Twice a year we invite those listeners to become donors as well through a “Friendraiser” day. On those days (one in the spring, one in the fall) we invite their phone calls and ask them to support the station. We need phone volunteers to take their phone calls and gather the information we need to work with them as a donor. If you’re friendly on the phone, and only have a couple of days a year to volunteer, this could be the position for you.

Volunteer Job Description: Promotions Call Outs
Overview: One of the irritating parts of life is getting those telemarketing calls while you’re at dinner with the family. One of the more effective means that businesses have in getting the word out about their product or service is telemarketing. How do you marry those two thoughts? How can WAY Radio use call outs to help the station without being an irritant to those they call? The answer is by being selective about when call outs are done, and even more selective about why we’re calling out. We’re selling a relationship with the listener. An opportunity for our product to help them, and we’re not looking for their money to make this happen. Whether its phone surveys or just a call of introduction, our call outs can be effective and helpful to the station, but more importantly, life impacting for those we call.

Volunteer Job Description: Volunteer Coordinator
Overview: For WAY Radio to succeed in the future, and in our current economy, more needs to be done with fewer dollars. We need to find individuals who support the mission of WAY Radio and have a little bit of time to invest into the ministry. Volunteers give of their time because they believe in the cause, however, they also need to be appreciated, and be placed in the proper position to give them satisfaction in their work. The volunteer coordinator will help recruit, train, and organize the volunteers with a focus on making the volunteer position a “win-win” for both the volunteer and the station.
